The ADB puts $400 million behind the region's border queues
The Asian Development Bank approved on Thursday a $400 million regional facility, BUILD, to modernise border crossings across the 11 CAREC countries, with up to $50 million per project over 10 years. The priority projects named so far are Tajik: Fotehobod-Oybek on the Uzbek border, Sarazm and Navbunyod.
Dushanbe rewrites its 3-year forecast: more freight, more investment, less aluminiu
Tajikistan's government has revised its macroeconomic forecast for 2027 to 2029. Industrial output is now expected to reach about 132 billion somoni ($14.3 billion) in 2028 against roughly 106 billion in the previous version, freight traffic 211 million tonnes instead of 160 million, and fixed investment 44.5 billion somoni instead of 40.5 billion. The aluminium line moved the other way: the 188,000-tonne target for 2028 has been cut, and the new figure was left out of the summary that reached print.
The EBRD's president reopens the Ashgabat ledger
Odile Renaud-Basso met Serdar Berdymukhamedov in Ashgabat, and the two sides signed a package of memoranda: a central-bank framework running 2027 to 2032 and a program on the banking system, the Ashgabat-based nCa reported Thursday.

Turkmenistan reports $46.4 million of trade and 15 days of silence on Kabul

Baku and Tashkent agree to count each other's pension years
The pension agreement signed at Sunday's Tashkent summit lets citizens who worked in both countries stack their service years for eligibility, with each state paying the share earned on its territory. The terms were published on Monday; ratification is still ahead.

Mongolia raises rates half a point, and the pumps come off rations on Saturday
The Bank of Mongolia’s monetary policy committee met out of turn on Wednesday and lifted the policy rate to 12.5%, with the reserve requirement for banks going up by the same half point. Hours later the fuel emergency headquarters said the purchase cap and the odd-even plate rule at the pumps end on 15 August. By the end of the working day the bank’s own site still showed the old rate.

Kazakhstan sets its state chatbot a target of 150 services
The Tuesday cabinet in Astana spent its session on digital government and came out with dates. eGov GPT goes from 50 services to 150 by the end of the year, every public service centre becomes an artificial intelligence office by December, and the action plan for the whole programme is due within a week.
