Central Asia Wire (CAW) is an independent news and analysis outlet covering Central Asia, the South Caucasus, and the powers whose decisions shape the region. We write for people who follow it closely and professionally: investors, diplomats, analysts, and fellow journalists who want clear reporting and honest interpretation, not official messaging or corporate communications.

We are editorially independent. No government, party, or company directs our coverage, and we do not repeat official narratives we have not checked.

Coverage

We follow a connected geopolitical and economic space:

• Central Asia: Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan.
• South Caucasus: Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan.
• Adjacent: Mongolia, Afghanistan, Pakistan.
• China and Russia: their money, infrastructure, and security weight run through all of it.

Our work tracks what actually moves the region, among it the Middle Corridor and trans-Caspian logistics, critical minerals, energy, sanctions and the routes around them, and the health of the region’s economies.

Bylines and anonymity

Most of our reporting and analysis appears under collective signatures: CAW Staff for news, CAW Editorial for analysis. The institution stands behind that work and its accuracy. We also run signed columns, which carry the author’s name and reflect that author’s own views.

We do not attach personal profiles to our newsroom or to the local contributors and sources who report from places where doing so openly carries real risk. Protecting them is the reason for that choice. We check our facts before publishing, and we correct mistakes when we find them.
