Kyrgyz fuel importers sign with a second Chinese major

The Kyrgyz fuel mission to Xinjiang has turned talks into signatures. Companies travelling with deputy cabinet chairman Erlist Akunbekov signed supply agreements with China National Petroleum Corporation, per a readout published Wednesday, after Monday's session with Sinopec.

Akunbekov met Luo Yizhou, described in the Kyrgyz account as CNPC's general director, and the companies in his delegation reached agreements with the corporation on supplies of oil products to Kyrgyzstan and signed them, per knews.kg's readout.

The logistics would run through Kunlun Logistics, CNPC's subsidiary for international transport and warehousing of fuel, crude, gas and chemicals. The border file goes to the agencies: the energy and transport ministries, the customs service and the foreign ministry are named to work checkpoint capacity and simplified visas for drivers.

Akunbekov's line for the record: โ€œwithout mutual trade there is no development of trade and economic cooperation between the countriesโ€.

The arithmetic behind the mission is unchanged since Monday's Sinopec session in the same region. Kyrgyzstan takes about 95% of its fuel from Russia, demand runs about 2 million tonnes a year, and Bishkek petrol stood at 87.9 som per litre on 17 August while Russian refineries fall out for repairs.
