The fraud count rests on a complaint by a woman identified as M.N., who says Kenzhebaev took $150,000 from her on the promise of a joint business and then deceived her. That complaint put him on the wanted list, the court’s press service told Svodka AKIpress on 14 October, without dating either the complaint or the notice.
The second count is the interior ministry’s: while abroad, it says, he published “materials of a provocative character” and calls to rallies and mass riots “with the subsequent seizure of power”. For that count the court’s office cites article 278 part 1, mass riots, read with article 36, preparation of a crime, and article 41 part 2, the organiser’s role.
Kenzhebaev was detained abroad and brought to Kyrgyzstan, and the ministry has not said in which country. He was held first in the temporary detention facility of Bishkek’s city police department, 24.kg reported on 14 October.
In December 2019 the State Committee for National Security detained him on suspicion of a $350,000 fraud on the complaint of a Chinese businessman who said he had handed over the money and not got it back, 24.kg recalled. In August 2026 Kenzhebaev made accusations against the circle of President Sadyr Japarov, which 24.kg does not detail in its report, and in September he said Kyrgyz security officers had tried to detain him in Cambodia.
Kenzhebaev was detained abroad and brought to Kyrgyzstan, and the ministry has not said in which country.
Neither outlet carries a statement from Kenzhebaev or a lawyer, and neither gives the sentence range for the two offences. Neither names the investigator or a date for the next hearing. The remand runs to 13 November.
