The EAEU’s economic partnership with the UAE takes effect with duties cut on 85% of lines

The agreement on economic partnership between the Eurasian Economic Union, its member states and the United Arab Emirates entered into force on 6 October, Kazakhstan’s trade and integration ministry said as Kazinform carried it at 17:06. It abolishes or lowers import duties on more than 85% of the tariff nomenclature. Signed in St Petersburg on 27 June 2025, it was ratified by Kazakhstan in July.

For Kazakh exporters the agreement opens duty-free supply to the Emirates of lamb, dried pulses, poultry, beef, other foodstuffs, sweetened mineral water, wheat flour and confectionery, and of industrial goods including oil and oil products, refined copper, hot- and cold-rolled flat steel, bars, taps, valves, machine parts and pumps, the ministry said. The first day’s word is a ministry’s in Astana, and the list is Kazakhstan’s.

Kazakhstan’s ratification law is No. 338-VIII of 8 July 2026, by the same report. The share of 85% is printed without a base year or a count of lines, and the agreement covers the union’s five members, Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Armenia, with the Emirates.

The first day’s word is a ministry’s in Astana, and the list is Kazakhstan’s.

Kazinform’s headline calls the document a free trade agreement. Its text, as the ministry names it, is an agreement on economic partnership, and the preferential regime it describes is a list of goods, not a single rate.
