Ashgabat opens its hosting season with a Tajik signature

Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Tajik foreign minister Sirojiddin Muhriddin on Thursday, and the two foreign ministries signed a cooperation program for 2027 and 2028. The reception is advance work for an autumn in which Avaza hosts two summits.

Energy, transport and agriculture head the state readout, with cooperation at the UN, the CIS, the ECO and the Central Asian format. The program runs for 2027 and 2028.

The program commits meetings, and no money.

The reception fits a calendar. Under Turkmenistan's CIS chairmanship, the readout notes, the Avaza resort zone is to host a Consultative Meeting of Central Asian heads of state and a session of the CIS Council of Heads of State. The Central Asian meeting is set for 8 October; for the CIS session the readout gives no date.

The program commits meetings, and no money. What the season is worth will be decided by what the two summits put on paper at the same seafront.
