Kazakhstan’s combined oil and gas condensate production fell from a July average of 2.07 million barrels a day to 1.63 million on 22 July, Reuters reported, citing industry sources. That is a decline of about 21% in a single day, driven by Tengiz, where output more than halved to 406,000 barrels from 925,000.
The scale is easier to read in tonnes. The consortium moved 70.5 million tons of crude in 2025, against total Kazakh oil and condensate exports of 78.7 million tons. The route that stopped this week is not one of several; it is the one the export economy is built around, and the alternatives together move a fraction of it.
Loading has been suspended since 20 July and the pipeline is idle, the consortium confirmed. The energy ministry says every production and technical facility is undamaged and ready to resume the moment conditions allow. Neither has said when that might be.
