Petronas finds commercial gas in Caspian Block 1

Commercial gas has flowed at the Magtymguly field in Turkmenistan’s Caspian Block 1, about 80 kilometres southwest of Turkmenbashi, nCa reported on Monday. Appraisal and production well A8, drilled to 4,981 metres, tested at more than 1.3 million cubic metres of gas a day plus about 130 tonnes of condensate. The block’s resources are put at more than 7 trillion cubic feet, roughly 200 billion cubic metres. Petronas Carigali operates with 57%; XRG, an ADNOC subsidiary, holds 38%, and Hazarnebit, a Turkmennebit subsidiary, 5%. A 25-year gas sales agreement with Turkmengas, signed in May 2025, covers the existing fields and joint development of new ones.
