Guvanch Agajanov, chairman of Turkmennebit, and Zhang Chuanjiang, chairman of China National Offshore Oil Corporation, signed a memorandum of understanding on “cooperation in respect of the Blocks of the Turkmen sector of the Caspian Sea”, News Central Asia reported from the signing ceremony in Ashgabat. The page names no block, no work programme and no money. No values were published for any of the five.
Agajanov also signed with Mohd Yazid Ja’afar, president and chief executive of the Malaysian Petroleum Resources Corporation, a memorandum on oil and gas services and equipment in Turkmenistan. “With this agreement, with this understanding, we hope that we will be able to work together with Turkmennebit and other Turkmenistan state concerns in developing the oil and gas industry,” Ja’afar said, in the agency’s transcript.
No values were published for any of the five.
The three contracts are for pipes. Turkmengas, through State Minister Maksat Babayev, bought various types of pipe from the Tashkent Pipe Plant named after Galperin, an Uzbek joint venture represented by its director Susepina Viktoriya. Turkmennebit signed with TENERGY Tianjin of China, represented by Samiullah Gulam Sakhi, and with KSP Steel of Kazakhstan, whose sales director Baurzhan Kozhabekov said: “This is not our first agreement, we have successfully completed about three contracts,” over four years of cooperation.
Interfax’s headline at 17:53 Moscow confirmed the CNOOC and MPRC memoranda from a second channel. With the TAPI figures and the Galkynysh fourth phase of day one, as CAW reported on 22 October, the conference has produced two days of names, kilometres and signatures, and no dollar figure for any document.
