Mongolia’s new justice minister declares 3 apartments worth 2.2 billion tugrik and shares in at least 6 companies, the anti-corruption agency’s register shows

G. Temuulen, sworn in as justice and home affairs minister on Tuesday, holds 3 apartments with a combined declared value of 2.2 billion tugrik and shares in at least 6 companies, gogo.mn reported from the Anti-Corruption Agency’s declaration register in the first hour of Wednesday, naming TTEM, Euroconstruction, Harte Gold Corp, Khanburgedei, Yarlag and Taobao Mongol among them. Dorgio.mn’s reading of the same register when the ruling party nominated him on 17 September lists the first 5 with Chemostemics as the sixth, and adds vehicles at 1.2 billion tugrik, livestock at 523 million, deposits of 94 million, loans of 303 million, his own annual income of 75 million and his family’s of 134 million.

Bar chart of a Mongolian minister's declared assets in billions of tugrik, the apartments bar longest at 2.2, vehicles 1.2, and a small amber bar for loans drawn to the left of the axis.

The declaration is the public one every member of parliament files with the agency; Temuulen has sat in the chamber since 2016 and chaired its security and foreign policy committee from 2024, after posts in the mining sector and, as CAW has reported, on the boards of Erdenes MGL and Oyu Tolgoi. The 2 outlets’ readings agree on the apartments and on 5 of the companies. Neither prints the filing’s year, which the register’s own page carries.

The minister’s assets reached the news pages on the night of his appointment. Under Article 39.4 of the Constitution the prime minister appointed him after presenting him to the chamber, which under its own rules took no vote; the member J. Bayarmaa said from the floor, in news.mn’s record of the sitting, that the Khural “has become a battlefield inside the MPP’s 30/38 group”, the split that the party’s former Speaker puts at 30 for his side.

The 2 outlets’ readings agree on the apartments and on 5 of the companies.

Neither outlet prints a valuation of the shares; the companies are limited companies, and gogo.mn prints one of them, Harte Gold Corp, as a joint-stock company. The agency publishes the declarations of the whole chamber; the new minister’s is the first to be read against a portfolio that now includes the police and the prisons.
