Kyrgyzstan’s presidential race has one filer as two ex-officials fail the language test

One person has applied to the Central Election Commission to stand in the presidential election of 27 January 2027, 24.kg’s mirror reported on 16 October, as former interior minister Omurbek Suvanaliev and Syimyk Zhapykeev failed the written part of the state-language examination and were offered a retake in three working days. The commission says retakes are outside its competence.

Suvanaliev and Zhapykeev will get the chance to retake the written subtest after failing to score the required points on the state-language examination, open.kg reported at 10:02 Bishkek time, citing Kyrgyztest. Both may retake the examination in three working days, the testing centre said, while adding that a decision on a retake for presidential candidates should be taken by the Central Election Commission.

The question of retaking the language test is outside the commission’s competence, the commission answered, by the same report. At the moment only one person has applied to the commission with an application to nominate his candidacy, it said. 24.kg named him as the entrepreneur Aimen Kasenov on 15 October.
