China's trade with Tajikistan reaches $1.78 billion in 6 months, a third more than Russia's

The two governments' commission met in Dushanbe on Friday and signed a protocol that lists sectors and no projects. Trade figures published with it put China's $1.78 billion for the first half of 2026 ahead of Russia's $1.32 billion.

The 14th session of the Tajikistan-China intergovernmental commission met on Friday 18 September, co-chaired by Tajikistan's minister of economic development and trade and by Ling Ji, China's vice minister of commerce, Asia-Plus reported on Saturday. Ling had attended the SCO trade ministers' meeting in the same city the day before.

Moscow keeps the fuel line.

Trade between the two countries reached almost $2.9 billion in 2025, up 46% in a year, and about $1.78 billion in the first 6 months of 2026. In that half-year China supplied 25.9% of Tajikistan's imports and took 26.8% of its exports. Russia's trade with Tajikistan over the same 6 months came to $1.32 billion and Switzerland's to more than $1 billion, on the figures that Asia-Plus printed on Saturday.

The protocol covers mining and mineral processing, “green” industry, textiles, leather and footwear, farm exports and transport. It names no project, no sum and no date.

Moscow keeps the fuel line. Russia supplied 91.1% of the oil products Tajikistan imported in the first half of 2026, on customs data reported by Asia-Plus.
