Armenian and Azerbaijani officials meet in Goris on where TRIPP’s power lines will run

Representatives of the relevant structures of Armenia and Azerbaijan held a technical meeting in Goris on Thursday on the placement of power transmission lines within the TRIPP project, Armenia’s Ministry of Territorial Administration and Infrastructure and Azerbaijan’s Cabinet of Ministers said in near-identical texts the same afternoon. The sides discussed technical questions, coordination between their bodies and the next steps needed to move the work forward.

Both texts run to three paragraphs and name nobody. The meeting took place in the city of Goris on 8 October 2026 between representatives of the relevant structures of the two republics and was devoted to questions of laying electricity lines within the framework of the TRIPP project, the sides discussed technical issues and exchanged views on the relevant aspects of this direction, and particular attention went to coordination between the bodies and the next steps required to advance the work, by Armenpress at 16:39 Yerevan time and APA at 16:00 Baku time. Two governments, one text, and no name of a single engineer on either page.

The route that the Washington declaration of August 2025 named the Trump Route for International Peace and Prosperity crosses Syunik, whose regional centre is Goris, and the line placement is the first physical question either side has put in a joint readout since Pashinyan set out his border and TRIPP positions earlier in the week, as CAW reported on Wednesday. On the same Thursday Tokayev proposed at Avaza to discuss at expert level the integration of the Middle Corridor with the TRIPP initiative, and a US official had discussed the route with Azerbaijan’s foreign minister on Tuesday, by Armenpress.

Two governments, one text, and no name of a single engineer on either page.

Pashinyan said separately on Thursday that Azerbaijan has made no extradition request for the serviceman held over the Shaki shooting, and that if he goes to Azerbaijan he will be tried there, Armenpress reported at 13:02, and the two capitals’ engineers met in Goris the same afternoon, by the two ministries’ word, with the next date on neither page.
