Kocharyan's route ran from ward to courtroom and stopped short of a hearing. In the morning doctors blocked his transfer; by late afternoon the Anti-Corruption Committee said the former president had been presented to the Anti-Corruption Court, the remand motion against him already filed. By evening, his lawyer Aram Orbelyan said, the case had no assigned judge and no scheduled session.
Moscow spoke without picking up the phone.
The committee meanwhile barred Serzh Sargsyan from leaving the country and detailed two more episodes. Prosecutors describe land at Nalbandyan 16 and Vazgen Sargsyan 20 passing to the Plaza Grande company between 2005 and 2007 to Kocharyan's benefit, and a below-value sale on Isakov Avenue tied to Toyota Yerevan shares they call a bribe routed to Kocharyan's son. Sargsyan's public answer stands from Tuesday: he does not yet know what he is accused of.
Moscow spoke without picking up the phone. Dmitry Peskov, asked about the arrests: “I would not want to comment now on internal political events in Armenia, very complex processes are under way there.” He added the hope that everything proceeds in strict accordance with the law, with the rights of all participants in the political process observed.
Yerevan had its answer out first. Security Council secretary Alen Simonyan, speaking to Russian television at midday: “At the moment, no one has called from Russia on Robert Kocharyan's issue, and I hope no one will either, because it makes no sense.”
Parliament kept its own clock. The National Assembly elected opposition MP Harutyun Harutyunyan of Hzor Hayastan to chair its standing commission on European integration, the item queued behind Tuesday's programme vote.
The remand motion is filed. As of tonight the hearing has no date, and the judge has no name.
