Hokim Shavkat Umurzakov met Max Lami, chief executive of Oppenheimer’s investment banking for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, Spot reported at 20:33 Tashkent citing the press service. The two sides discussed the city’s prospects on international capital markets, including the possibility of issuing municipal bonds, and the attraction of investment for large infrastructure and urban projects, and signed a cooperation agreement at the end of the meeting. No amount, tenor or timing is named in the agreement.

The rest of the agenda was method: investment attraction, public-private partnership, international financial instruments, foreign experience in managing city finances and training for local specialists. The hokimiyat expects the agreement to widen its contacts with international financial institutions and investors and to bring additional sources of financing for city projects.

No amount, tenor or timing is named in the agreement.

The capital’s bond has a date in the record. At Mirziyoyev’s meeting of 16 April on Tashkent’s growth and business climate it was proposed to issue Tashkent eurobonds and raise an additional $500 million in 2026, Spot recalled. Andijan region’s plan, a $300 million eurobond through Andijon Invest Kompaniyasi discussed with Oppenheimer on 21 October, was reported by CAW on 22 October with no tenor, coupon or rating either.

Two Uzbek issuers have now met one American bank in two days. Between them the pages hold a cooperation agreement, a $300 million intention and a $500 million target from April, and no bond.
