The statement reached the public through Otkurbek Rakhmanov, an associate and former head of the Region TV channel, who published it on Kamchybek Tashiev’s behalf. Tashiev wrote that rumors and false information had tied his name to the race and that he wanted his position stated plainly: "My position has not changed and will not change."
He pledged full support to Japarov and placed stability and the state’s interests above all, asking citizens to distrust those who spread falsehoods in his name.
The record around the statement is two weeks old. On 2 July Tashiev and two co-defendants were convicted in the Letter-of-75 case and given four-year sentences, suspended in full. The verdict formally ended the tandem at the center of Kyrgyz power since 2020.
