President Ilham Aliyev attended the inauguration of the Gobustan solar power plant on Wednesday, APA reported at 12:14 Baku time. The 100 MW plant stands on 300.77 hectares in the settlement of Pirsaat in the Garadagh district of Baku, a site the government put up for auction and China's Universal International Holdings Limited won in 2024.
"The Gobustan Solar Power Plant project is the first project implemented through an auction process in Azerbaijan, as well as the first project carried out by Universal Energy in the country," APA wrote. Energy minister Parviz Shahbazov, China's ambassador Lu Mei and the company's chief executive Yi Nan briefed the president, AZERTAC reported at 12:47.
Azeri Light was dearer again on Wednesday morning.
The plant is to generate about 200 million kilowatt-hours a year, saving 45 million cubic metres of natural gas and cutting carbon emissions by 97,000 tonnes a year, by the figures both agencies printed. With it, APA said, the country's renewable capacity reaches 2,170 MW across 85 plants.
Azeri Light was dearer again on Wednesday morning. Trend's table put it at $128.03 a barrel CIF Augusta, up $0.74 on Tuesday's print, with Dated Brent at $132.19 and Urals at $95.14. The 2026 budget is written at $65; the print stands 97% above it by desk arithmetic.
