KazMunayGas’s Romanian arm tripled its nine-month profit to $269 million at 97% refinery load

KMG International earned $269 million in January-September, 219% more than a year earlier, on EBITDA of $469 million, up 73%, the national company said in Kapital’s report on Tuesday. Petromidia processed 4.087 million tonnes of crude, 14,670 tonnes a day, and the group’s retail companies sold 2.272 million tonnes of fuel.

“By the results of nine months of the current year the company’s consolidated EBITDA came to $469 million, up 73% on the same period of last year, and net profit reached $269 million, up 219% year on year,” KazMunayGas’s press service said, in Kapital’s rendering. KMG International N.V. owns the Petromidia refinery on the Black Sea coast and the Rompetrol filling-station network.

The refinery ran at about 97% of its design capacity, with average daily throughput of 14,670 tonnes. Petromidia turned out 3.977 million tonnes of products, among them 1.793 million tonnes of diesel, 1.103 million tonnes of petrol and 369,000 tonnes of Jet A-1.

Retail sales rose 5% to 2.272 million tonnes. “The growth was driven mainly by higher wholesale sales in Romania and higher sales volumes in Moldova,” the company said, with non-fuel sales in Romania up 3% and the retail segment’s EBITDA at $87 million.

KMG had earlier reported the completion of repairs at its two Romanian refineries and the start of polypropylene copolymer production at Petromidia, and in November 2025 it denied plans to sell the Romanian subsidiary.
